With mere days until Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry welcome us back to a tent in the British countryside and 12 amateur bakers begin battling it out to be named this year’s best, we’ve been thinking…
Over the past five years, dozens of brilliant bakers have created crumby masterpieces, trembled over technicals and made us cry more tears than we ever thought we’d shed over trifle, toffee and tarts. They’ve been pushed to their limit, faced Hollywood’s steely stare and charmed the telly-watching public with their passion for all things baked.
59 of them, in total, from Edd Kimber and Holly Bell to Ruby Tandoh and Norman Calder. But who was the best, the ultimate star baker?
This week series three finalist James Morton (you remember – the Scottish medic with the lovely Fair Isle jumpers), stormed to victory in Radio Times’s Food Champion 2015, beating the judges who failed to award him the trophy back in 2013. But is he your GBBO favourite?
It’s time for Paul and Mary to budge over so you can play judge. Happy voting!
The Great British Bake Off returns on 5th August at 8pm on BBC1
