Ricky Gervais and Eric Bana are cooking up a whole new world of trouble in the new trailer for Special Correspondents.
The Netflix film sees Gervais and Bana play lazy reporters who decide to file fake war reports from Ecuador from the comfort of New York.
But the plan goes awry when reports emerge that the pair have been ‘kidnapped’, forcing them to hide out in Ecuador for real.
Gervais shared the new video on Twitter.
Vera Farmiga plays Gervais’s wife Eleanor Finch, with other cast members including Kevin Pollak, Kelly Macdonald, Benjamin Bratt and America Ferrera.
Gervais said at the Netflix showcase on Monday that he was excited by the creative freedom Netflix had given him, saying that unlike cinema releases Special Correspondents had not been “focus-grouped to death.”
“I get so excited about having an idea but because I can get the thing made,” he said. It’s playtime. Its such a f****** privilege to do this. I am so excited. If you’re not excited about this why should they be? Otherwise what’s the point?”
Special Correspondents will be released on Netflix on 29th April.
