Saturday’s matinee performance of Cold War drama Woyzeck, starring John Boyega, at London’s Old Vic Theatre was interrupted following a security scare, with the building evacuated as a precaution while police were called in to investigate.
Theatregoers tweeted pictures as they waited in the gardens of the nearby Imperial War Museum and watched police arrive on the scene.

Reports suggest the theatre was evacuated following a phone call to staff.
“We have been evacuated as a precaution; audience safety is our priority,” tweeted the Old Vic at the time. “We are liaising with the Met Police.”
The theatre later confirmed that the incident was found not to be suspicious and based on advice from the police the evening performance went ahead.
The Metropolitan Police tweeted “Thanks for bearing with us during the security alert at the Cut, Waterloo, SE1 (the Old Vic Theatre). Incident found not to be suspicious.”
