Hollywood A-listers Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke were spotted in downtown Newmarket last week, and Hawke was seen chatting to fans in Ontario, while on the shoot for his new movie.
Directed by the esteemed Alejandro Amenábar (Open Your Eyes, The Others), the movie shoot will take place throughout southern Ontario until mid-June this year.
“I am passionate about Alejandro and his work,” explained Watson before filming, “and am so happy to be collaborating with him. I’m really excited by the challenge my character presents to me as an actress. I can’t wait to begin.”
The thriller will tell the story of a father (played by Hawke) who is accused of sexually abusing his daughter, although he has no memory of it. With help from a psychologist, he starts to wonder if he is embroiled in a nationwide conspiracy.
Amenabar has teamed up with moviemakers TWC-Dimension again; they previously worked together on The Others, with Nichole Kidman, which grossed more than £118 million worldwide.
Hawke and Watson also have other titles out in the coming months. Expect to see Hawke in sci-fi thriller Pedestination, about a time-traveling Temporal Agent, and in a modern take on Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, with Dakota Johnson and Milla Jovovich.
Meanwhile, Watson’s blockbuster Noah, starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone and Anthony Hopkins has just been released.
Regression is scheduled for release in August 2015.
