Avengers: Age of Ultron currently filming in Italy with Aaron Taylor Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen

A Hollywood cast was spotted on set shooting the Marvel superhero flick this week

Scenes for Joss Whedon’s new Marvel movie The Avengers: Age of Ultron are well underway in Italy’s Aosta Valley area.

A Hollywood cast and crew, including Aaron Taylor Johnson (Nowhere Boy) and Elizabeth Olsen (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) have been spotted doing battle scenes, amid a whole host of special effects from gusty winds, explosions and floods to earthquakes and people running in mass panic.

The spectacular scenes have well and truly and taken over this usually quaint Italian region. Spectators have witnessed effects such as crumbling buildings and cars blowing up.

Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker) arrived in Aosta with a bow and arrow, playing Hawkeye, and recently Tweeted a picture of himself in action:

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen turned up as Scarlet Witch in her distinctive boots and red jacket alongside Aaron Taylor Johnson as Quicksilver.

More scenes included laying fake snow, rubble and fake shop signs in the pretty town of Verres, shooting in Pont Saint Martin, where a fake earthquake took place, and in the historic Forte di Bard where an overhead picture of Ironman was snapped by an onlooker.

The cast and crew, including Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), Chris Hemsworth (Rush) and Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), are expected to arrive in the British county of Surrey next month.
