Hot on the heels of sprinter Usain Bolt, David Tennant is the latest star to help Richard Branson’s Virgin Media promote its TV and broadband offerings.
The ex-Doctor Who actor will be seen in a television advert for the company’s new “Collections” cable TV, broadband and telephone packages, set to screen for the first time on Saturday night during Britain’s Got Talent.
The ad sees former Time Lord Tennant “conquering time travel” as he peruses his own back catalogue on Virgin’s TiVo service, while Richard Branson makes “a time travel discovery of his very own”.
A subsequent advert will feature the pair in a “meditative” scene – with Sir Richard performing a calming whale song – as they assure customers they need never miss their favourite shows.
Virgin Media’s director of advertising and sponsorship, Richard Larcombe, said: “Building on the huge success of our recent TiVo campaign and Usain Bolt and Richard in our superfast broadband ads, the new Collections creative brings together the best of both in a fully integrated offering.
“The new work uses the superiority of our products to deliver on value, simplicity and choice, all signed and sealed with a Virgin sense of humour.”
The campaign will also be seen online and in cinemas.
