Alan Rickman may be known for his rich, purring tones but earlier this year we saw him in a whole new light when he turned up on Jimmy Fallon with two helium balloons. Snape may have sent shivers down our spines during his tenure at Hogwarts but Rickman’s squeaky “Harry Potter” had the opposite effect.
Snape may have detested Harry Potter but Rickman has a great deal of affection for JK Rowling’s character and the books he inspired. He penned this heartfelt goodbye, published in Empire Magazine, straight after playing the Hogwarts professor for the very last time.
Alan Rickman… what a joker. He and Michael Gambon had the great hall echoing with peals of laughter when they placed a hidden fart machine inside Daniel Radcliffe’s sleeping bag during filming. Cue some awkward noises emanating from young Dan’s backside. Snape would NOT have approved of such tomfoolery
What happens when Alan Rickman catches you drawing “a rather un-pretty picture” of Alan Rickman? Rupert Grint feared the worst when the veteran actor caught him doodling during his potions lesson, but rather than dock points from Gryffindor, Rickman made the youngster sign his artwork. He still has it in his possession and – in the words of the man himself – “I’m very fond of it”.
“When I’m 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I’ll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, ‘After all this time?’ And I will say, ‘Always.”
We don’t think zee French would approve of zis attempt.
We say ‘crowdfunding’… really it was a spoof cooked up by Radcliffe, his Kill Your Darlings co-star Dean DeHaan and MTV’s Josh Horowitz. Titled Snowy Winter, the proposed film offered Dan the chance to show off his Boston accent and have “a lot of hard core sex”. Up for various ‘roles’ were Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson and Helen Mirren – and for a mere $50 pledged to the cause, you could spend an entire evening watching TV with Alan Rickman. Now that’s money well spent.
(After all, that fall had to hurt…)
(Ok, this one’s rather Snape-like but it was too good not to include)
Forget Snape’s flowing robes – Rickman appeared without a shred of clothing during filming for his 2012 film The Gambit. The scenes were shot in London skyscraper The Gherkin which happens to have floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Rickman in the nude must have left many an office worker choking on their morning cuppa.
