Barry Howard, who was best known for playing Barry Stuart-Hargreaves in BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi!, has died aged 78.
The actor appeared in the first seven series of the show about fictional holiday camp Maplins, playing a dance instructor with a particular love of ballroom. He recently starred in the 2009 Doctor Who Christmas special as bus driver Oliver Barnes.
He had been suffering from cancer, his agent Sharry Clarke told the BBC.
Clarke paid tribute to Howard as “My lovely friend and client Barry Howard has passed to Spirit today. I will miss him more than I can say. RIP lovely man.”
