Dominic West to narrate James Bond book

The star of The Hour and The Wire will lend his voice to William Boyd's Solo, in which 007 goes it alone

Dominic West is to take on James Bond this autumn – in audiobook form. West, best known for roles in The Wire and The Hour, is to lend his voice to William Boyd’s debut Bond novel, Solo.

The book, published in Bond’s 60th year, sees a veteran version of the secret agent “go solo” on a mission of his own.

“In my novel, events conspire to make Bond go off on a self-appointed mission of his own, unannounced and without any authorization – and he’s fully prepared to take the consequences of his audacity,” says Boyd.

Set in 1969, Solo will be a return to the classic, literary Bond of 007 creator Ian Fleming, claims the author.

As well as revealing West as the book’s narrator – a choice the Director of Vintage Publishing called, “perfect combination of reader and text” – the book’s cover has also been revealed (see below).

Solo will be published in hardback and as an audiobook by Jonathan Cape on 26 September.
