Merlin’s Eoin Macken to star in US medical drama After Hours

The Irish actor who plays Sir Gwaine in the BBC1 fantasy series will appear in the NBC pilot, his first high-profile stateside role

Merlin actor Eoin Macken – who plays Sir Gwaine in the BBC1 drama – is set to star in an hour-long NBC pilot titled After Hours, can confirm.

The US medical drama will focus on the overnight shift in the ER department of the San Antonio Medical Centre, with Macken taking the role of returned Army medic TC Callahan whose unorthadox approach to emergency medicine leads to repeated clashes with his hospital bosses.

Irish actor Macken currently stars alongside Colin Morgan and Bradley James in BBC’s adaptation of the Arthurian legends, and has previously appeared in The Tudors and Michael Fassbender’s Centurion. He has also enjoyed a successful modelling career, working for Abercrombie and Fitch and Ralph Lauren, amongst others.
