Amber Riley tweets goodbye to Glee

"I'm going to miss the whole Glee family," announced the actress who plays Mercedes Jones on her Twitter page

Amber Riley has revealed that she will not be returning for the next series of hit US show Glee.

The actress, who plays diva Mercedes Jones, announced on Twitter, “That’s a wrap on Amber Riley! Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I’ve known day in and day out for three years. I’m going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday! I have so many brothers and sisters now.”

Tweeting on the final day of filming for Glee’s third series, she also added, “I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! SCHOOL’S OUT Glee Kids! Let’s play! Stay tuned to see what’s next for Mercedes.”

Riley, 26, is an original Glee cast member and one of the many seniors who will graduate from William McKinley High School when the Fox musical drama’s current series comes to a close.

As the characters are set to move onto the next chapter in their lives, there has been much speculation about who will be returning for Glee’s fourth season. Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) have all announced they will be back for the next series later this year, but the future of many other cast members is yet to be confirmed.
