Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson has landed himself a brand-new six-part radio series on digital station Planet Rock.

In The Lyricists – All Mouth & Trousers, Anderson will explore the work of leading lyricists, from Bob Dylan to Motorhead’s Lemmy, and measure the impact their words had on the world of rock.

He’ll also be taking a sideways glance at some lesser-known rock wordsmiths who never quite hit the big time as the series unfolds.

The new show will be the second Anderson has presented for Planet Rock, the first being the award-nominated Under the Influence, which he hosted in 2007.

Trevor White, Planet Rock’s programme director, said: “It’s great to have Ian back at Planet Rock again. He is a wonderful raconteur and The Lyricists is set to be another essential listen.”

Anderson has recently come back into the public consciousness after issuing Thick as a Brick 2, a sequel album to Jethro Tull’s celebrated 1972 prog rock masterpiece.
