That Dog Can Dance! – 8:00pm, ITV1

X Factor meets dancing dogs – what’s not to love? Britain’s canine wannabes throw some shapes for celebrity judges Sharon Osbourne, Bill Bailey and – rather fittingly – BGT winners Ashleigh and Pudsey.

Spy – 8:00pm, Sky1

In the Christmas special, 10-year-old Marcus ruthlessly auditions his fellow pupils for parts in a festive musical while Tim and Caitlin’s office affair becomes common knowledge at MI5.

Blackpool: Big Night Out – 8:00pm, BBC2

Although it’s better known for its fairground rides nowadays, for half a century Blackpool was the heart of Britain’s entertainment industry – attracting stars like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Brucie and Cilla Black. In this documentary, entertainment veterans such as Ken Dodd and Bobby Ball look back at the seaside town’s golden age.

Miranda – 9:00pm, BBC1

Such fun – the queen of comedy is back! Two years on, the third series of Miranda is finally hitting our TV screens. Despite starting a new job, agreeing to be ‘just friends’ with Gary and being forced to diet, Miranda is determined to enjoy Christmas. Miranda Hart reveals how she made series three.

Doors Open – 9:00pm, ITV1

Stephen Fry, Lenora Crichlow, Douglas Henshall and Kenneth Collard star in this amiable heist drama. In the hope of winning back the love of his life, bored millionaire Mike ropes in two pals to swap priceless works of art for near-perfect forgeries.

The Girl – 9:00pm, BBC2

Sienna Miller and Toby Jones star in this feature-length drama which depicts the strange relationship between filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and Hollywood starlet Tippi Hedren. When young model Tippi is picked by Hitchcock to star in his newest film The Birds she is over the moon, but as the director becomes obsessive and controlling she soon wishes she’d never met him.
