Matt LeBlanc is the new Top Gear host – a surprise to some, but when you dig into the BBC2 show’s archive, you’ll see he’s already proved his credentials. After all, the former Friends star sits at the top of the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car leaderboard with a time of 1:42:10.
And he made it look easy.
As Jeremy Clarkson played back the recording of his lap back in 2012, the Top Gear studio audience watched the actor whistle as he whizzed around the track in his nifty Kia Cee’d in fairly uneventful style – but as Clarkson reminded us, often the more boring it is, the faster it is. And fast it was.
Watch Matt’s speedy lap – and his celebration at knocking Rowan Atkinson off the top spot – in the video below…
And for a glimpse at just how much of a petrolhead he really is, check out the behind-the-scenes action here:
Matt LeBlanc joins production on Top Gear right away, ready for the new series to launch on BBC2 in May.
