Thom Evans has been voted out of Strictly Come Dancing.
It’s a shock exit that’s probably left the sequins in a flutter, as the professional rugby player and his dance partner Iveta Lukosiute became the fourth couple to leave the competition.
Their exit came after a dance-off with pop star Simon Webbe and his partner Kristina Rihanoff who had placed 8th to Thom’s 9th on the leaderboard during last night’s show.
That leaves bottom of the leaderboard couples Judy Murray and Anton Du Beke and Scott Mills and Joanne Clifton free to dance for another week.
The decision did split the judging panel, with both Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell opting to save Thom and Iveta, while Bruno Tonioli saved Simon. This gave Len Goodman the casting vote, with footwork making the decision for him.
“I look at the footwork and the feet and the couple with the cleanest footwork were Simon and Kristina, so that is the couple I am saving,” Goodman explained.
Of his time on Strictly Thom says, “This experience exceeded all of my expectations. It is one of the best experiences of my life. From the judges to the other contestants to the back room staff, everyone does such a brilliant job and helps you feel confident going into every show.
“I also want to thank my partner Iveta. She has been immensely patient over these last couple of weeks and she couldn’t have worked harder. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart.”
And so onto next week, where it’s the big one – Halloween. Expect spiders, witches, broomsticks and ghosts as the remaining contestants battle it out once more on the dance floor.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday 1st November at 18:30 on BBC1
