Classic cartoon character Danger Mouse has found a new voice in the form of Alexander Armstrong.
The Pointless host, who is also well known for TV comedy including The Armstrong and Miller Show, will breath new life into the animated hero when he returns to screens next year.
Armstrong says taking on the role previously voiced by Sir David Jason in the original ITV series is “about as close to a dream job as you could wish for”.
Danger Mouse hasn’t been seen on screens since 1992, but after a long absence a bumper set of fifty two episodes will kick off the CBBC broadcast in 2015.
Kevin Eldon (Hot Fuzz, Death Comes to Pemberley) will take over voicing duties from the late Terry Scott for DM’s sidekick Penfold, while Dave Lamb – the voice of Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me – will narrate.
Shauna MacDonald (Hemlock Grove) and Morwenna Banks (Shameless, Skins) are also lined up to voice characters.
