Towering above the capital of West Yorkshire at the very heart of Leeds, the Park Plaza offers a restful and relaxing place to stay when visiting the area. Literally at the very centre of the city, just off one of the main squares and opposite the main train station, you’d be hard pushed to find a better location for access to the city’s many and varied attractions, shops, pubs and bars – plus the First Direct Arena and the enormous Trinity Leeds shopping centre.
Just like all Park Plaza hotels, the standards at this property are very high and staff well-trained and friendly. The main lobby, a light spacious area is home to a bar, as well as an executive lounge for those staying in upgraded rooms.
It’s worth booking a room near the top of the tower if you can because of the amazing views you get of Leeds and the surrounding countryside. On the 20th floor where we stayed, a corner room really is a visual spectacular both in daytime and when the large city lights up at night.
The rooms are large and spacious, and because of the hotel being a tower are very quiet compared to many city centre hotels because you are so far away from the busy roads and the high jinx of revellers leaving pubs and bars. Fast frequent lifts get you up to the top floors in double quick time, so there’s no need to worry about training up to use the stairs!
Rooms are well-equipped with large luxurious beds and have all the mod-cons you need for a short stay. Good-sized, clean well-though-out bathrooms with bath and shower facilities accompany guestrooms.
The hotel has an on-site gym, offers Wi Fi throughout, offers babysitting services and has business facilities for those who require them.
This is a comfortable, family friendly and great value option if you need to be in Leeds city centre for a night or two.
Eating and drinking
The main dining facility – and one of the jewels in the crown of this hotel- is the excellent Chino Latino restaurant. An Asian-inspired fusion restaurant with a tapas style menu, Chino Latino offers a delicious and extremely diverse selection of foods to try, share and enjoy – from black cod with spicy miso and inside out chicken wings to soups, tempura and ribs. The staff are really helpful and friendly and are happy to help you choose from the menu in order to get the best from a first time experience – although it will almost certainly not be your last. Yum!
The low-lit contemporary feeling restaurant has an adjacent bar and sells a wide range of signature cocktails. A great place to stop after dinner for a cheeky nightcap or two!
The hotel also has a lobby bar on the ground floor – and an executive lounge for those in executive rooms and the executive club. A good in-room menu is also offered for those looking to stay in the comfort of their own guestroom.
