Percy Jackson is fighting metallic monsters, driving flying cars and searching for a magical golden fleece in the second film in the fantasy-adventure franchise.
Add to that the Bermuda Triangle, strange sharks and a whole lot of demi-gods and what more could you ask for?
Based on the best-selling series of novels by Rick Riordan, the first film saw teenage Percy discover he was the descendant of a Greek god. The sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, sees the demi-god’s safe haven come under threat.
The franchise has been likened to the Harry Potter films, and it’s easy to see why. The trio (a kind of Harry, Hermione and Ron situation) even fly around in a magic car much like the Hogwarts students did in Chamber of Secrets – the only difference being that it’s a yellow taxi cab not a blue Ford Anglia.
Coincidentally, Logan Lerman, who stars as Percy, recently starred alongside Harry Potter’s Emma Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
