The broadcaster and co-presenter of Saturday Kitchen already fronts her own cookery series – surely she'll be a whizz in the MasterChef kitchen?

Best known for: Working as a Scottish television and radio journalist, co-presenting Saturday Live on Radio 4

Biography: Born in Glasgow, Mir was just 22 when she landed her first job in television, as a newsreader at STV in Glasgow, going on to become a staple of Scotland Today.

She’s worked both in front of and behind the camera, producing programmes for BBC Radio Scotland and BBC London, as well as fronting a slew of politics coverage.

Who are the 2017 Celebrity MasterChef contestants?

Most recently, Mir formed part of ITV’s 2017 General Election team, reporting on the West Midlands seats from Birmingham, and co-presenting Scotland Decides – ITV’s live results programme reporting on the results of the 2015 Scottish independence referendum.

Earlier this month, Mir fronted BBC documentary Partition: Legacy of the Line with Sanjeev Kohli.


She also spent 11 years working at Radio 5 Live, presenting Weekend News, The Midday News and Drive with Peter Allen before moving to Radio 4 where she now fronts Saturday Live with Rev Richard Coles.

Mir has also capitalised on her skills in the kitchen, launching Cracking Curries – a website and YouTube cookery series – with her sister, showing new cooks how to make simple and authentic Pakistani food.
