Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) is to be left gobsmacked next week when an increasingly volatile Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) lashes out.
A showdown in the salon sees Jenny angrily telling Maria that she witnessed Liam hitting Jack. But in a fine example of grown-ups not being any mature than children, Jenny will then lose control herself and slap Maria across the face!
Scenes to be shown on Monday 27 April will then see Sophie (Brooke Vincent) grow increasingly suspicious after Jenny claims that it was Maria who slapped her and not vice versa.
But when Sophie tries to tell Kevin (Michael Le Vell) the truth about Jenny, he refuses to believe her. Desperate for someone to believe her, Sophie tries to get Maddie on side, but even she thinks that it’s an over-reaction.
Despite feeling that she’s the lone voice of reason, Sophie will – by the end of next week – decide to eventually bite the bullet and make amends with Jenny. But, tempers will fray again when Jenny snaps and orders Sophie to back off from Kevin’s son Jack.
When Kevin and Maddie walk in, Jenny hurriedly tell them that Sophie attacked her. But will Kevin buy her latest story?
Recent press stories certainly point to the situation intensifying, with the Sun reporting that an upcoming plotline will see Jenny kidnap Jack and threaten to jump from a rooftop with him, although a Coronation Street spokesperson refused to comment on the speculation.
