Doctor Who series 8: synopsis for episode 6 The Caretaker revealed

The world is in danger from the terrifying Skovox Blitzer but, even worse, the Doctor and Danny Pink are about to meet…

A synopsis for episode six of Doctor Who series 8 has been released by the BBC – and it looks like we might be in for a clash between the Doctor and Clara’s love interest Danny Pink.

The Caretaker, co-written with Steven Moffat by Gareth Roberts, who is responsible for 2010’s acclaimed The Lodger, is described thus:

“The terrifying Skovox Blitzer is ready to destroy all humanity – but worse, and any second now, Danny Pink and the Doctor are going to meet. When terrifying events threaten Coal Hill school, the Doctor decides to go undercover.”

The episode sounds vaguely reminiscent of 2006’s School Reunion, where the tenth Doctor also goes under cover at a school to investigate a mystery. Yet, according to Steven Moffat’s Radio Times episode guide, the greatest mystery will be how Clara keeps all the different elements of her life from colliding.

“Clara has it all under control: her life at school, her life in space; her new boyfriend and her mad old Time Lord. Everything is humming along just fine, so long as everybody never actually meets. And then, one morning, just before assembly, Coal Hill welcomes a new relief caretaker with a Scottish accent.”

And as for the Skovox Blitzer? Beyond it looking like some sort of robot, we haven’t the foggiest.

The Caretaker will air on BBC1 on 27th September.
