In the run-up to Tracy’s big confession, Carla will be seen contemplating suicide as the guilt about what she believes she’s done becomes all-consuming.

“She has reached the end of the line and can’t face her demons any longer,” says Alison King, who plays the beleaguered factory boss.

Having driven both herself and Tracy to a quarry, an erratic Carla will be seen teetering on the edge of a precipice as the prepares to take her own life.

But when Tracy sees that her rival’s life is hanging in the balance, she finally comes clean and admits that she caused the blaze that did for Kal Nazir and Maddie Heath.

“Carla’s just incredulous – she can’t believe what she’s hearing. It’s the last she imagined had happened. Carla genuinely thought that she was responsible for the fire. It’s a huge weight off her shoulders, but she is so angry with Tracy.”

Tense scenes see Carla reeling as Tracy reveals how she stole Michelle’s keys and let herself into Carla’s flat intent on hurting her, but bottled out and left, forgetting she’d lit a candle.

Tracy explains how she wanted revenge against Carla for taking away both Rob and her share of the Rovers. With emotions running high, the pair begin fighting on the edge of the quarry – but will Tracy’s confession end in tragedy?

“It’s very dramatic,” teases King. “It’s back where Carla almost died after the minibus crash and Tracy saved her life. So there’s lots of dramatic irony!”
