Benedict Cumberbatch signs deerstalker hat to raise money for charity campaign

Sherlock star Lara Pulver urges fans to celebrate the actor while helping a good cause by joining the bid

Sherlock’s very own Benedict Cumberbatch has signed a deerstalker hat, which is being auctioned off for charity.

The hat, signed ‘Benedict Cumberbatch X’, is part of a campaign to raise money for St Mungo’s charity as part of their Woolly Hat Day campaign.

Since 2011 the charity has raised more than £18,000 by auctioning celebrity hats, with funds used to help people who are sleeping rough on the streets.

Cumberbatch’s signed deerstalker hat has, at the time of writing, reached a bid of £976.93.

Fellow Sherlock star Lara Pulver, who plays Irene Adler in the detective series, took to Twitter to encourage fans to get behind the campaign.

There’s a total of thirty celebrity hats up for auction with Michael Buble, Sienna Miller, Bill Nighy and Sir Elton John among those donating a hat.

The auction runs until the 2nd of February and you can find out more about how to get involved here.
