Cilla Black bringing Blind Date back to ITV

Scouse crooner and former queen of Saturday-night TV to resurrect love-search for special show this autumn

Cilla Black will step into the Blind Date studio for a one-off return of the hit show later this autumn.

The veteran presenter and singer will bring the classic dating show back for one last time as part of a programme celebrating her fifty years in showbusiness.

Black last fronted Blind Date in 2003 after sensationally quitting the final series live on air after 18 years, allegedly after she had heard that ITV was considering replacing her.

Producers are currently assembling some of the most memorable conetstants to appear on the tribute show. Former contestants have included Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda Holden, who appeared in 1990, and media personality Tara Palmer Tompkinson in 2002.

The show called The One & Only Cilla Black will be hosted by her friend Paul O’ Grady and will include a special trip back to her home town of Liverpool.

Cilla said: “I can’t believe its been 50 years since I started this incredible journey.  I’ve made some wonderful friends over the years and experienced some magical moments.  I’m thrilled to be back at ITV to celebrate these in a special one off entertainment show”.
