Meet the Suicide Squad, an elite team of super-villains forced to work together on a super secret government mission.
Sure, the cast might look like a smily bunch in this first-look picture at the film’s read-through, but don’t let them fool you. They are a highly dangerous band of criminals allowed out of their high-security cells only to carry out black ops missions, in return for reduced jail time.
Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne and Jai Courtney make up some of the DC Comics villians, playing Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Enchantress and Boomerang, while Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman play characters tasked with keeping the criminals in check.
The film’s big star Jared Leto, though, is notably nowhere to be seen. Perhaps the 43-year-old, who is taking on the iconic role of The Joker, was on photographer duty that day.
If he thought playing Batman’s ultimate nemesis, easily the most famous villain in the film, would secure him a spot in this picture, he was sorely mistaken. Oscar-winner or not, everyone’s got to take their turn behind the tripod, it seems…
