Emily Blunt could be this generation’s Mary Poppins in a sequel to the classic film

The Hollywood star is in talks to play everyone's favourite nanny

Emily Blunt is reportedly in talks to star as Mary Poppins, the best nanny ever, in an upcoming sequel to the classic 1964 Disney film.

The Edge of Tomorrow and Girl on the Train actor is the top choice for producers John DeLuca and Marc Platt, who also worked with Blunt on fantasy film Into the Woods, reports Variety.

The movie will be set in Depression-era London 20 years after the first film, using storylines from PL Travers’ children’s books about Poppins’ further adventures with the kite-flying Banks children.
