Applications for Love Island’s winter spin-off are open! But you’ll just have to hope you’re 100% someone’s type on paper and keep your fingers crossed that producers don’t think you’re a melt, because legions of “fun and vibrant singles” from across the UK will surely be competing for places on this brand-new reality show.
ITV is following up on the Love Island phenomenon with Survival of the Fittest, which sounds suspiciously similar. Young, good-looking singletons wearing skimpy clothing in the sunshine being put through a series of tests, followed by “romantic dates”, in a bid to win a big cash prize? Now where have we seen this before?
ITV2 bosses are recruiting a new cast “who want to take part in an African adventure”. Contestants will live together in the South African Savannah, where boys and girls will compete against each other in a battle of the sexes.
Just like Love Island, the show will be made by Motion Content Group Limited for ITV2.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and the deadline for applications is 30th November. It also looks like we can expect the show to air in February 2018 as applicants have been asked to block out four weeks for filming, starting on the 1st.
Paul Mortimer, Head of ITV’s Digital Channels and Acquisitions, previously said: “ITV2’s younger audience will no doubt relish the escapism this immersive physical game show from sunny South Africa will provide next winter. Like Love Island before it, this series’ nightly mixture of fun challenges and burgeoning relationships ought to be must see.”
