Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley in first trailer for The Imitation Game

The stars are in a nail-biting race against time to break the unbreakable German Enigma code in the film that will open the London Film Festival

Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley’s The Imitation Game has got a full-length trailer and will open this year’s London Film Festival.


The film, set in the darkest days of World War II, sees Cumberbatch take on the role of computer scientist and Bletchley Park codebreaker Alan Turing. Credited with cracking the German Enigma code, the story charts his race against time to break the complex code before more people die.

Keira Knightley stars as close friend and fellow code-breaker Joan Clarke, alongside a bumper cast including Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Charles Dance (Gosford Park, Game of Thrones), Allen Leech (Downton Abbey) and Matthew Beard (An Education).

Early screenings have already earned glowing reviews for the cast.
