Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has revealed that former lovers Paddy and Chas could find romance again in upcoming episodes of the ITV soap.
Speaking about the fresh romantic frisson, the actor said: “It could be a rebound thing. But it’s a mutual rebound. I don’t think they’re under any illusions, but they just want to spend some time together.
“They just keep saying, ‘let’s try and be together. You’re single, I’m single, we can skip all the crap and go for meals together’. It’s quite nice.”
Next week’s episodes of Emmerdale will see Paddy decide to start dating again after his decree nisi comes through. But an evening out with a veterinary client by the name of Lydia goes awry when she turns out to be too keen for Paddy’s liking.
Enter Chas with a plan to extricate Paddy from the arrangement: “Paddy goes to the Woolpack and tells Chas that Lydia is insane and that he needs to get away from her. But Lydia ends up following him into the pub.
“In the end, Chas ends up pretending to be Paddy’s mistress and slaps him across the face, accusing him of seeing another woman!”
In the wake of the showdown, Paddy will start to feel hopeful that there might be something more between him and Chas. And Brunt would be only too happy for the Emmerdale writers to pursue that relationship:
“Working with Lucy Pargeter is a dream. She’s a giggler, but she always knows her lines. She’s very professional, but she’s funny. And she always encourages you.
“I think she’s one of the best people in Emmerdale, so I’m really looking forward to working with her again for a bit.”
