Further details of Madge and Harold’s reunion for Neighbours’s 30th anniversary have been revealed.
Lovable Harold (Ian Smith) is to cause mass panic at the inaugural Erinsborough Festival when he accidentally crashes his campervan into the marquee, prompting a vision of Madge to appear before him.
In the run-up to the collision, Harold will be seen dwelling on thoughts of his late soulmate Madge (Anne Charleston). With a sense of history all around him, Harold will even start to believe that he can smell Madge’s perfume and hear her voice.
So it’s no surprise that when he loses control of the motorhome and has his smash-up, a dazed and confused Harold ends up seeing Madge sitting in the passenger seat!
“She’s come back to help Harold move on with his life,” says Anne Charleston. “Whether she’s a ghost or a figment of Harold’s imagination, we’re not quite sure.”
On working again with Ian Smith and Tom Oliver (who plays Lou Carpenter), Charleston joked: “They haven’t changed, the pair of them. They treat me very badly and are awfully rude and we have a lot of fun.”
Made and Harold’s reunion will be screened on Channel 5 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday 18 March. And at 10pm, viewers can also see the likes of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan return for Neighbours 30th: the Stars Reunite, a documentary in which Ramsay Street graduates look back at their time on the show.
