First there was baking, then there was sewing. Now… there’s pottery.
Love Productions, the makers of The Great British Bake Off and The Great British Sewing Bee, are calling for applications for a new BBC2 show Britain’s Best Potter, from “experienced amateurs to early career potters, who want to share their passion with the nation”.
Phew. While we try to forget Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze’s clay clenching for a moment, here’s what the show’s producers are looking for.
The application flyer explains: “In this brand new talent search for BBC2 your entire repertoire of skills will be put to the test!”

According to the application form, filming for Britain’s Best Potter (still a working title) is set to begin in Spring 2015; the show is looking for confident ceramicists and potters and “lively characters who are comfortable being filmed.”
Closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 4th January.
It’s the latest in a series of entertainment spin-offs inspired by Bake Off, from Sewing Bee and gardening show The Big Allotment Challenge to interior design and hairdressing.
Incidentally, The Great British Bake Off is also open for new applicants, so if throwing pots isn’t your thing you can always reach for your (ready-made) pudding basin.
