They say parody is the sincerest form of flattery, so John Lewis should take heart that their Christmas advert this year (which involved a cute little penguin receiving a mail-order bride) has spawned an imitator – though on a slightly lower budget.
Pieces for Places, a furniture outfit in Barmouth, Wales, recreated the £7 million advert (with the same soundtrack) around their seaside town, and while it’s less slick, you have to applaud the effort. To be honest, we can hardly tell the difference.
As they say themselves, they’re a bit like John Lewis – just sexier. You can watch the video below:
