There’s a new Scooby Doo film in the works

The crime-solving pup and those meddling kids will be back for another feature film in 2018

Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you? The answer: back on the big screen. The classic crime-solving cartoon is getting a new mystery in 2018.

Warner Bros. animation are set to bring the pup and his gang of meddling kids – Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne – back for a feature film, more than 12 years after they were last in cinemas.

Tony Cervone is set to helm the project – he’s far from a Scooby Doo novice, having directed a handful of straight-to-DVD movies in the franchise. Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, who worked on the live-action Scooby Doo films, will produce alongside Allison Abbate, with Matt Lieberman writing the script.

“Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters. As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie,” said Warner’s Greg Silverman.

Scooby Doo began as a cartoon series in 1969. The characters have since gone on to appear in a number of spin-off series and films, the most recent being Be Cool, Scooby Doo! which is set to air on Boomerang later this year.

The new film is tipped for release on 21st September 2018 (Zoink!)
