Stephanie Davis speaks out after Hollyoaks sacking

The actress - who played Sinead O'Connor on the C4 soap - was dismissed with immediate effect last Thursday

Former Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has thanked her fans on Twitter after being sacked from her role as Sinead O’Connor.

The 22-year-old actress – who had featured on the show since 2010 – showed her appreciation to viewers and asked them not believe everything they’d been reading in the press.

In two tweets, Davis said:

Davis was dismissed from Hollyoaks last Thursday “with immediate effect” after show bosses decided to end her contract.

It later emerged that Davis’s “alcohol consumption” was the reason behind her sacking. A statement released by her agent read:

“Stephanie’s contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption.”
