Erica to suffer baby heartbreak on Coronation Street

Claire King's character is set to experience major trauma in scenes to be shown next month

Warning – major plot spoilers ahead

Coronation Street’s Erica Holroyd (Claire King) is to have a miscarriage next month, leaving her and father-to-be Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) devastated.

Scenes to be shown in June will see Erica experience pains during a quiz night at the Rovers and be rushed to hospital.

Only last week, viewers saw Erica return to the Street and tell Nick that he was going to be a dad, scuppering his burgeoning romance with Carla Connor in the process. But the miscarriage storyline is believed to be just the start of a run of emotional plots coming soon on the ITV soap.

“Erica’s pregnancy was a shock for viewers but her miscarriage will be even more of a shock. This was initially seen as a chance for Corrie to explore the issue of older women coping with pregnancy. Nobody expected it to end this way.

“It’s one of a series of heartbreaking storylines lined up in the coming months,” a source told the Sun.
