Everyone loves a hero, right? Well maybe not, as new photos from the set of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice appear to reveal.
Zack Snyder’s film will see the heroes (played by Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill) clash, with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor also joining the action – and new Twitter photos show what might be the beginning of the conflict.
While the photos aren’t great quality, they appear to show an angry mob protesting Superman with signs including the weirdly passive-agressive “Thanks for the ‘help’”, the imaginative “Super-Death” and what looks unnervingly like a swastika.
Hurtful signs aren’t the extent of their outrage, however – the crowd also seem to have burned the hero in effigy. Rude.
It’s hard to say what’s turned the public on the Man of Steel – jealousy over his chiseled pecs perhaps?
Notably, one fan account noticed similarities between the scene and a 2011 story from the comics – perhaps the film is adapting these events? (We can’t imagine them going for the short-sleeved look, though).
Whatever the cause, Superman clearly needs to get himself a good PR.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is due to be released in 2016
