The lengths Alex Horne will go to in order to get a laugh never cease to amaze. Squeezing himself into a wheelie bin? No problem. Being force-fed super-sour sweets? All in a day’s work. It’s hard to feel too sorry for him when it’s this funny.
The show’s team tasks are also consistently hilarious, and the first one of this series throws up some dysfunctional genius in the pairing of Jo Brand and David Baddiel – a dynamic Greg Davies likens to a couple on Bargain Hunt. As ever with Taskmaster, it’s not the destination; it’s the journey. In David and Jo’s case, that journey is a leisurely meander around the Taskmaster house, eating sandwiches and having a cup of tea and a sit down; all while the clock on their task is ticking.
