Troubled Brody Morgan’s drug addiction has caused his family no end of problems in Home and Away recently, and even as he attempts to kick his habit the drama is far from over.
Holed up at new pal Scarlett Snow’s place, Brody is finding detox difficult and struggles with going cold turkey. Trying his best to resist calling his dealer, the withdrawal symptoms intensify to the point where Brody starts hallucinating that his dead mother is in the room…
Telling stunned Scarlett he’s seeing dead people, she goes to call for help – but when she returns Brody has done a runner. Rushing to find Justin, the pair frantically search for Brody as they fear he could be in danger.
Thankfully, Mason and Raffy eventually find Brody alone and distressed, completely consumed by his withdrawal symptoms and they bring him back to the Morgan house. There’s more tough love from big brother Justin who begs Brody to return home but he refuses, explaining if he’s going to beat his addiction he needs his own space and no extra pressure.
Justin reluctantly agrees and Brody remains at Scarlett’s – though it’s still a mystery why Scarlett is helping a virtual stranger. What is lurking in her past that makes her sympathetic towards Brody’s drug addiction? Is she a recovering addict herself? Mason is miffed that Justin didn’t do enough to stop Brody moving out and another almighty row ensues.
Meanwhile, the Morgans’ endless squabbling takes its toll on young Raffy who is fed up of all the fighting. When the rest of the family realise they’ve forgotten their half sister’s 14th birthday they’re mortified, and realise how the cracks in the clan are widening and they need to do something about it.
Throwing an impromptu (and belated) birthday celebration for Raffy, can the Morgans pull together as Brody contemplates rehab to finally put his drug taking behind him?
Home and Away airs these scenes on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 July on Channel 5 at 1.15pm and 6pm.
