Actor Marc Elliott, best known for playing tortured soul Syed Masood on EastEnders, is to play a new medic on Holby City.
Elliott, who has already begun filming at the drama’s base in Elstree, is playing dashing new doctor Issac Mayfield, who immediately catches the eye of colleague Dominic Copeland (David Ames), while on Keller Ward.
The former Walford star, who left E20 back in 2012, said of his signing: “I am so pleased to be joining the lovely and incredibly welcoming cast of Holby City, and very much looking forward to playing this complex and flawed character.
“My twin sister was born with the brains and has been working as a fully qualified veterinary surgeon for some years now. I am chuffed that I’m finally going to be able to compete if only in the pretend world!”
Holby City’s executive producer Oliver Kent added: “We are delighted to welcome Marc to team Holby and we can’t wait to see him striding the wards of the Hospital.
Charming, confident and twinkly, Issac Mayfield will make a handsome addition to the Keller team and will quickly brighten up Dominic’s life…”

Elliott isn’t, of course, the first former EastEnder to take on a role in Holby City: Michael French (David Wicks) was part of the medical drama’s original line-up, while Nina Wadia (who played Syed’s mum Zainab) was seen last year as neurosurgeon Annabelle Cooper.
Elliott will be filming with the Holby team for six months, with his first on-screen appearance coming in June.
