EastEnders signs up newcomer Jonny Labey as Paul Coker

Les and Pam’s grandson is set to bring romance to the Square and some trouble, too

There’s a new boy on his way to Walford in the form of Jonny Labey.

Labey is a newcomer to television and will play Paul Coker, the grandson of Les and Pam. Having just finished a stint as a club rep – “creating scandal” we’re told – his character will dive straight into a romance with one (not necessarily lucky) lady on the Square.

“I am overjoyed to have been given the role of Paul Coker and am thrilled to be joining the show at such a prevalent time as it marks its 30th anniversary,” Labey said. “I know I’ve got a lot of work to do to live up to the talent I shall be working with, but I have never felt more welcome and cannot wait to get started.”

Paul is described as enjoying being the centre of attention – a natural fit for Walford – but it looks like he’ll be causing trouble for his grandparents as they uncover secrets from his past.

Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins says Jonny’s a “sensitive, clever and intuitive actor and has fitted in to his new Walford family with ease”.

Labey will arrive on the Square in June. Meanwhile, check out what’s coming up next on EastEnders:
