"Belle can't communicate any of her worries with her family. They think she's being bullied - but there's actually a lot more to her plight than that," says actress Eden Taylor-Draper

Shock scenes to be shown on Emmerdale next week will see an increasingly erratic Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) plunge from the roof of the village’s cricket pavilion.

Belle’s situation has been a cause for concern ever since she was released from youth custody, with the rest of the Dingles fearing for her safety after it appeared that she’d been targeted by an attacker with a grudge.

And now, those fears will escalate when a series of events lead to Belle taking a rooftop leap during the episode set to air on Friday 12 December.

Belle’s desperate act comes at the end of a week that sees Belle’s behaviour become ever-more erratic. First, it seems that a painting she’s submitted to the village’s craft fair has been slashed. Then, as a consequence of the vandalism, Belle goes on a rampage at David’s shop after she steals a bottle of vodka.

Later on, a confrontation with Edna (Shirley Stelfox) leads to Belle breaking into her house and trashing it before stealing a piece of jewellery that means a lot to its owner. But it’s only when Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) confronts Belle with photographic evidence of her crime that the troubled teenaged girl is literally sent over the edge.

“Belle is feeling anxious, sad and paranoid – she’s finding it hard to know what’s going on in her own mind and doesn’t understand any of it,” Eden Taylor-Draper comments in the latest issue of Inside Soap. “Because she doesn’t know how to deal with what’s happening to her, Belle can’t communicate any of her worries with her family. They think she’s being bullied – but there’s actually a lot more to her plight than that…”
