Ashley Thomas (John Middleton) is to find love again this July when he meets Carole, a new character played by ex-Coronation Street actress Tracy Brabin.
A hesitant Ashley is reluctant to introduce Carole to his friends but vicar Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) soon stirs things up by texting Carole from Ashley’s phone. Soon, Carole is in the village but Harriet’s meddling backfires when things go well for Ashley and Carole – and Harriet realises she is jealous.
Tracy Brabin – who played Tricia Armstrong in Corrie between 1994 and 1997 – said today of her signing to Emmerdale: “It is a total delight to be playing Carole back in my home town of Leeds. She’s funny and sexy with a dark secret. Ever since I played Tricia in Coronation Street, it’s been a personal and professional ambition to work with the wonderful actors and writers of Emmerdale. I hope the public take to Carole as much as I have.”
In taking on a role in Emmerdale, Brabin is following in the footsteps of her former screen son on Coronation Street. Joseph Gilgun – who played Tricia’s offspring Jamie – went on to play Eli Dingle in Emmerdale between 2006 and 2010.
