Ricky Gervais asks fans for their David Brent documentary ideas

Gervais tweets #brentsback as he ponders which aspects of The Office manager's life to explore

It wasn’t all that long ago that Ricky Gervais was talking about a David Brent documentary – and now it seems he’s looking to his fans to help him decide where to go with it.

Initially it seemed like Gervais was pondering a behind-the-scenes style documentary that follows his current tour as Brent with his band Foregone Conclusion. He’s recently been rocking out on stage to songs seen in his online series Learn Guitar with David Brent

“It’s just an idea,” he told the Sunday Times. “I want to do a tour, a little tour – and people think they’re seeing a tour. I film it, but actually it’s Brent who thinks he’s making a Scorsese-type thing of [classic Jack Kerouac Beat novel] On The Road.

But now it seems Gervais may be looking to take the documentary in a new direction, and he wants the fans to help.

He tweeted:

Gervais certainly seems to have vocal fans. Within moments he followed this with suggestions from his Twitter followers including relationships, family, his fifteen minutes of fame and how this affected the paper merchant manager’s life or indeed his teenage years.
