When you get X Factor semi-finalists to sing a Beyonce and Elton John track each, you know things are going to get weepy.
Poor Nicholas McDonald struggled to keep his emotions in check. During his performance of Beyonce’s Halo he could be seen crying towards the end, admitting the shock of getting so far in the competition coupled with seeing his parents weeping in the crowd meant he got “lost in the moment”.
But on a night with Sam Bailey singing Candle in the Wind on the bill, what can be expected other than bucket-loads of tears. Her mentor Sharon Osbourne barely managed an audible “thank you” when she finished.
The other singers all managed to get good comments from the judges tonight. Luke Friend certainly seems to have his eye on a spot in that final. Although, while Gary Barlow’s group Rough Copy were told their rendition of Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word was “beautiful” by Nicole Scherzinger, Louis said he thought they seemed to be trying too hard.
Well, he didn’t get to the semi-final with two acts to his name without a few clever tactics now did he? Louis for the win, eh?
