First ITV did celebrity diving. Then the BBC announced gymnastics-themed Let’s Get Ready To Tumble. You probably thought that was enough Olympics-inspired entertainment formats but now Channel 4 is muscling in on the act, persuading 12 nerve-jangled famous faces to travel to a mountainside and take on a series of dangerous winter sports.
The Jump will be fronted by Davina McCall and take place over ten nights in early 2014 with the brave (or bonkers) celebs put through their paces by expert coaches and Olympians. Their events, broadcast live from a snowy European peak, will include skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton, slalom and ski jumping.
But are they made of the white stuff to win, or will they find themselves on a slippery slope back home?
“The Jump is going to be amazing,” said Davina. “The scenery, the challenge and the sheer grit needed to compete will make it gripping viewing.” We bet she’s just relieved she doesn’t have to take part.
