The assault comes after Janine drops a bombshell on Michael and tells him that she is changing their daughter’s surname to Butcher. As Michael protests, Janine leaves him in no doubt as to the way she feels: “I may not be the world’s greatest mother but I do hold all the cards. And I do not want you to have anything to do with Scarlett’s upbringing.”

As she goes on to describe her ex as “messed up”, Janine is left in little doubt as to how twisted Michael can be when he lashes out and begins to choke her. Determined to win the battle, Michael stays calm and demands an apology. But despite eventually loosening his grip, Janine remains terrified by what he has now proven himself to be capable of.
