He’s landed parts in numerous Hollywood movies, is preparing to film a third series of Sherlock and appears to be supplementing his income nicely with TV voiceover work, but somehow Benedict Cumberbatch has found space in his hectic schedule to record a fourth series of Radio 4’s cult comedy Cabin Pressure, about a struggling charter airline.
Cumberbatch plays Captain Martin Crieff who, despite problems with spatial awareness, passing exams and projecting any real sense of authority, has finally fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a pilot – albeit in an airline with only one plane.
Cumberbatch is joined by Cornation Street’s Stephanie Cole, as the formidable head of MJN Air, The Thick of It’s Roger Allam, as Captain Crieff’s first officer, and Cabin Pressure’s writer John Finnemore, who plays the excitable air steward.
The new series of Cabin Pressure begins recording next month, in front of a live studio audience – click here for your chance to get free tickets. It returns to Radio 4 in early January.
