Countdown’s Rachel Riley joins The Gadget Show

Riley will appear alongside Pollyanna Woodward, Jason Bradbury and a returning Jon Bentley on the new series of Channel 5’s high-tech TV show

Rachel Riley is to join the presenting team for the upcoming series of The Gadget Show on Channel 5.

The 27-year-old will host the show alongside incumbent presenters Pollyanna Woodward and Jason Bradbury when the programme returns this summer.  Jon Bentley, who previously worked on the programme, will return as the show’s chief gadget tester.

Riley, who rose to fame in 2009 after replacing Carol Vorderman on Channel 4 game show Countdown, said: I’m very excited to be joining the Gadget Show family.  I’m always keen to try out new gadgets, so it’s going to be brilliant to be able to get my hands on the latest models and test them on behalf of the viewers”

The Gadget Show began in 2004, and has through its 18 series – and various name changes and format tweaks – consistently remained one of Channel 5’s most popular programmes.  Former presenters include Dallas Campbell, Suzi Perry, Gail Porter and Ortis Deley.

The Gadget Show is set to return this summer.
