Jo Brand has landed a new chat-show on Gold, in which the Getting On star will uncover secrets about some of Britain’s favourite comedy icons.
The five-episode series Jo Brand’s Great Wall of Comedy will feature regular appearances from The Thick of It’s Rebecca Front and veteran comedy writer Barry Cryer, who’ll both aid Brand in digging up little-known facts about the nation’s favourite comics.
Each week, the presenters will also be joined by a guest sitcom star, who’ll regale the panel with stories about their shows and fellow comedy performers.
“Jo Brand’s Great Wall Of Comedy is an innovative and bold format for Gold and embodies the type of original programming we want for the channel,” said Gold’s general manager Steve North.
“We are sure the combination of comedy talent headed by Jo, mixed with the fun of a chat show and filled with eye opening anecdotes from a line-up of comedy stars, will make this a hit with viewers.”
Jo Brand’s Great Wall of Comedy is the latest project the comedienne has undertaken for UKTV, the network which owns Gold, and follows the swimming-based series Jo Brand’s Big Splash, which aired on Dave in 2011.
The new chat show follows a recent raft of original comedy commissions from UKTV including the tenth series of Red Dwarf, the Yes, Prime Minister remake and The Comic Strip: Five Go to Rehab.
UKTV was unable to provide an airdate for Jo Brand’s Great Wall of Comedy at the time of writing.
