Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn is returning to the soap as Mandy Richardson.
The actress has played the role on and off for over 20 years, and was last on screen in 2011 – although there was a brief appearance in a dream sequence in 2013’s Hollyoaks Later.
Her comeback coincides with Gary Lucy rejoining the cast as Luke Morgan, reuniting the former on-screen couple since Lucy’s departure in 2002. Mandy and Luke were once the soap’s golden duo and enjoyed a number of high-profile storylines together and apart, including Luke’s rape and the death of Mandy’s baby daughter Grace with husband Tony Hutchinson.
Mandy will return with ‘huge secrets’ according to Dunn, who started filming a few weeks ago and has reportedly signed a six-month contract, and will initially be sharing plots with stepsister Cindy Cunningham, little brother Tom Cunningham and ex-husband Tony.
Fans will Mandy rock up in her old home later this summer.
Hollyoaks continues weeknights on E4 at 7pm and on Channel 4 at 6.30pm.
